What’s this message about my IP number?

This warning is displayed to everyone. If you are sending a legitimate card you can ignore the message. There is a small percentage of users that use free postcard services to send inappropriate postcards and this is our warning to those users because Bansheeweb does not tolerate it. Your IP number is only reported when a questionable card is received, the recipient has the ability to track and report the sender to their ISP. Bansheeweb does not use or retain IP numbers. They are deleted when the postcard expires and are not shared with any third parties, same with your email address. We hate SPAM!

How do I send a card?

Select your card category (i.e., birthday, anniversary, humor, etc.) from the Postcard index page.

Select the image that you would like to use and click on it. Complete the form and hit the button CLICK TO PROCEED.  You will be shown a preview of the card.  If you approve, hit SEND THE CARD or return to the form and make changes.

After sending, write down the confirmation number and if you wish, return to Bansheeweb to send as many cards as you like.

I wasn’t notified that the card was sent!

That’s because the notification comes when the card is picked up. When the person picks up the card, you receive an email. If you haven’t received an email either A) the card was not picked up or B) you entered an incorrect email address for yourself. To manually check the status of a card, scroll down to the next question. Follow these directions and you can check the date the card was sent and the email addresses you entered.

PICK|03/20/2002 04:47 AM; 63.226.134.149; Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98)

This is when the card was picked up (Greenwich Mean Time) and that IP information.

How do I pickup a card?

Proceed to the Card Pickup Page and enter the pickup number given to you in the notification email.  Make sure you type the exact number and if you are copying and pasting from the email make sure no spaces (or the # sign) follow the pickup number.

I received an inappropriate card or I didn’t send a card but your system says I did, what should I do?

99% of the time, this is caused by the sender mistyping their email address. If the card was inappropriate you can track the sender. Listed at the bottom of your email notification is the IP number of the person that created the ecard. To find the business that owns that IP number click here and enter the IP address listed on your email. Contact the administrative person listed and let them know the time, date (these are listed in Greenwich Mean Time on the email) and IP number of the ecard and any additional information you may have.

Are these really free, what’s the catch?

Yes, postcards are 100% free, you may send as many, as often as you like. We would like you to consider taking the time to visit some of our sponsors as they help pay the costs of development and hosting this free site.

I can’t hear the music!

In your browser preferences, make sure that you have sounds enabled. Different browsers require different plug-ins to enable sounds, go to the website of your browser and download the free plug-in to hear sounds.

My card number can’t be found.

Make sure that you don’t have any extra spaces or the # sign when you type in the card pickup number.

Cards are stored on the server for 10 days. If the email notification was sent to you more than 10 days ago, the card is no longer available.

I can’t see the JAVA image.

Not all browsers are JAVA comaptible. JAVA works best with Internet Explorer and Netscape. If you are using a JAVA enabled browser and still can’t see the image, double check to make sure you have JAVA enabled in your browser preferences. If nothing else seems to work, try trashing your cache and restarting your computer.

How do I send to multiple people?

In the postcard form page, there is a button towards the bottom to send to multiple recipients. Check this button and DO NOT fill in the name and email address on this page. Click to preview the page, if all is acceptable click to send the card. You will then be prompted to fill in the email addresses of the recipients.

The images are showing up very blurry.

This is typically an AOL problem. In your AOL preferences, click the WWW button. Check to make sure “Use compressed Images” is not selected.

If you are not on AOL, it’s possible the image is still downloading. Hit refresh and wait for the page to completely reload.

How can I add my own image to a card?

Proceed to the Add Your Own Image page. The image you use must already be available on the Internet. Type the URL of the image and complete the rest of the form. When you preview the page, the image you selected should appear.

Can I unsend a card?

Sorry, there is no way to unsend a postcard. Unless you select a later delivery date, the email notification is instantly sent once you approve the card.

The person never received the card I sent.

90% of the time this is due to an incorrectly typed email address. If you copied the card pickup number on the confirmation page, you may check the status here.

Does Bansheeweb use my email address or my friends?

Absolutely not. The information regarding the card you sent is saved, but email addresses and names are never used or sold by us or any other party. The only reason we ever look into this personal information is when a complaint is received about a postcard sent. Bansheeweb will send you no SPAM!

If you continue to have problems and the above does not answer your question, please check again!

Bansheeweb consists of one person. Yep, just one. If you absolutely can’t find the answer to your question above, you can complete the following form, but I’ll warn you…Bansheeweb is not my full-time job so your answer may not be speedy!
